Eagle - because there is more to the success of the Pacific Solution than just offshore processing. I listed it out in my last post - here it is again:

    • providing an offshore processing centre that is run by Australians and/or a country which is a signatory to the UN.

    • Temporary Protection Visas

    • Turning the boats back where it is safe to do so. If not they are escorted to the offshore country.

If Gillard and her cohorts could swallow some pride and accept they do not have a superior alternative to the Pacific Solution, for goodness sake, why not use the solution that protects our borders and one which doesn't lure non-refugees to their deaths?

Why is Gillard playing politics? The Pacific Solution worked.

And I know you have called me racist and redneck before for expressing concern at the lack of border security and yet it seems you have lost concern for the genuine refugees who could end up in a hostile environment in another country. For their sake, shouldn't we offer a safe place?

Shouldn't they be given first opportunity to come here instead of being crowded out with potential welfare rorters? It seems that, while the Pacific Solution was not entirely perfect, it was a well thought out system which did the job pretty well.

However, I don't think you will read any of the above. I think you are so deeply dyed in labor propaganda, it is difficult to see reality.
