Actually, stocks have had a pause in a solid rise.
I might be wrong but governments can't afford to have speculative investment into useless metal bars. Private and public wealth tied up in illiquid immobile lumps that generate no employment, no enterprise, no inventiveness, no business process, no anything really.
It might have happened in the past, but not any more.
