Sorry, my last post should have read : Spaceghost, that website is incorrect. The members of the Fed board (Bernanke included) are nominated by the US Govt and specifically the President.

It would be very worrying indeed if private enterprise controlled the US money supply.

Of course the RBA is Govt run, notwithstanding the independence of the setting of monetary policy.
