Yes,
I noticed that a few properties for rent in my area were reduced quite significantly in asking price in the 2 weeks before Xmas. I suppose it was a matter of getting the money rolling in ASAP - one property went from asking $600pw down to $550 in that period and was let before Xmas - there may have been a further discount on the $550, I don't know.
I have been made aware that there is some negotiation by prospective tenants, about 4 months ago an asking price of $550pw was reduced to either $530 or $515 to get the rental, I don't remember which price.
The rental properties are going reasonably quickly but the area is about 2 kms from a major train station makes it less convenient for those working in the CBD - I have noticed that the properties near the train line are going very quickly.
all the best
