    Hi Kingpins

Each case is different when it comes to shares & property. However, with shares an investor may not be geared personally on a particular company but the company itself may be geared which results in the investor being ' vicariously ' geared without any influence on that level of gearing other than deciding to exit the share.

In anything, the level of gearing should be appropriately matched with the risk tolerance of the investor.

I ceased gearing on shares a while ago as it just didn't suit me at all but I was glad that I geared when I did.

Having said that, the beauty of shares (unlike property) is that ending the investment is a push of the button away - that can be good in some situations and bad in others.

I like owning shares & property as well as having cash earning interest but I would like to improve my share selections for the future :) I also admit to owning some 'bottom feeding ' shares and I like the excitement as well as owning property.

    all the best
