Iron Ore still demand still strong - Port Hedland Iron Ore Exports for Dec'11
The Port Hedland Port Authority has released the cargo stats for the month of December 2011.
The key details for iron ore are:
· Total exports were a record 21.4mt, up 23% YoY and 8% MoM.
· Volumes to China were up 30% YoY to 16.6mt – bettering the old record of 15.1mt (Sept’11).
· Shipments to second most important market Japan, rose 29% YoY to 2.1mt.

China appears to be absorbing all the iron ore Port Hedland can handle!
That’s in stark contrast to the media’s reporting of gloom all over the world!
