Adacel recently won its first contract with Airbus. The contract basically entails Airbus linking some of its full flight simulators (FFS) (or the cockpit 'human-machine interface') with Adacel's air traffic control (ATC) sim software to create highly realistic air traffic scenarios for test pilots and Airbus system designers. What is significant about this contract is that it marks the first time that FFS have been linked to simulated ATC scenarios in this way. Over the next few years, most aircraft manufacturers (e.g. Boeing), airlines (e.g. Qantas), and designers of civil FFS are likely to follow Airbus' lead.
Who is likely to get the lion's share of this new business? Prior to this contract win, Adacel (an Australian/Canadian/US company) had no relationship with Airbus (a European company), so the contract win was based 100% on Airbus testing, and being impressed with, Adacel's technology; further confirmation that, in a highly competitive market, Adacel has the most advanced ATC simulation products. On the assumption that most contracts will be won by the bidder with the most advanced/best performing technology, Adacel is in an excellent position in my opinion.
