This is a good read for all of you PIF investors who, in any way, hold themselves responsible.
Weeds like PIF grow in cracks formed by
"Australian governments ... lack ...[of] political will to confront corporate misconduct and that regulation is essentially a charade, with businesses allowed to do largely as they please." [neuter our caveat emptor]
Cracks that are fertilised by
"the investigator in the Australian Federal Police or the Health Department, cast[ing] the file into the Too Hard Basket. They are dedicated to a quiet, untroubled life. Why would a lowly paid officer of the Fraud and Overservicing Division take on one of the most powerful medical practitioners in the land?"
Let me single out part of that quote "They are dedicated to a quiet, untroubled life."
ASIC's performance over PIF reminds me of that scene in Monty Python's 'The Meaning of Live' (A Tiger! In Africa) where Cleese carries on shaving while wholesale slaughter progresses about him. Only to gesture excessivly at the mild inconvenience of his mirror being smashed by a Zulu spear
