re: ***unwired ready to go national***
Here you go... let me know if this helps with your Q. Extracted from one of their last annoucements.
The company is well placed for future growth – the WiMAX momentum is continuing with the majority of the world’s major manufacturers now supporting WiMAX as the wireless broadband standard. Intel Corp has launched its first WiMAX chip for the 802.16-2004, the precursor to the 802.16e standard which will see the introduction of full mobility over WiMAX-based networks if ratified as expected later in 2005. Chips using this standard are expected to be built into notebook computers by 2007. -2- Unwired Australia is the only carrier in Australia which can easily transition to WiMAX when the mobility standard is introduced. Unwired owns most of the 3.5GHz spectrum in Australia - which is the preferred WiMAX band. Unwired also has the capacity in the 3.5 GHz band – around 100MHz in Sydney and Melbourne and 65MHz covering most of the remaining population – to run its current proprietary technology alongside new WiMAX technology with no customer disruption.
