The historic 15:1 gold/silver ratio is just that, historic. It doesn't mean gold was 15 times the price of gold in the last 20 or 30 years, it means in the last 5000 years the average ratio stood at 15:1...
In the 1500's the spanish set the gold/silver ratio at 15:1.
In 1792 the ratio was fixed by law in the US at 15:1.
France enacted the same law in 1803.
The abundance of silver in the earths crust is around 16-17 times more than gold.
So there are reasons why people are talking about the historical ratio and the abundance of silver compared to gold on earth and why the ratio could return back to 15:1...
