remlin is excited Melbourne will play host to a biotechnology conference next year that will consider ways to combat the bird flu virus that has killed more than 50 people so far in South-East Asia.
Premier Steve Bracks said that the Agricultural Biotechnology International Conference would be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre in August 2006.
Clive Noble, from the state Department of Primary Industries, said risks associated with bird flu and how to combat the virus would be considered at the conference.
