It'll be hard to pick an outcome out of the upcoming election in terms of the Kingaroy plant. I think personally it will be a Liberal whitewash gaining a huge swing in seats. We can expect Kate Jones to lose and obviously Campbell Newman to fill the seat.
What worries me somewhat is the perceived transition of Newman from a strong leader of the BCC to State Premier. Personally I think that Kingaroy will be the LNP's commitment to the environment slash crap approach to politics. I get the impression that a few years ago, Campbell would have seen the facts for the facts, but now I'm not so sure.
There has been far too much mud slung at CXY and no mud slung back at the ALP. What WILL make for interesting reading however will be Anna Bligh losing her seat (which she will) and then the question begs of what will be of her dim witted husband, none other than the Assistant Director General, Office if Climate Change DERM - Mr. Greg Withers.
Now, call me a sceptic, but seeing as the whole CXY debacle went to the top of QLD politics, you can't tell me that the Premier did not have a hand in her Husband's position at DERM in their response to CXY? I mean what idiot would at DERM would tell the Premier's husband to jam it, lest they want to lose their cushy public sector job?
Soooo, that being said, seeing as Anna is about to be a highly paid unemployed bum, what pull is her idiot husband going to therefore have within DERM? Could this be an area where, much like the SEC, people internally will just simply 'give up' on the action against CXY?
I sincerely hope (not just because I am a share holder) that Kingaroy starts again. But, something tells me that this has gone on too far, and that CXY should have come out guns blazing immediately after the permanent shut down last Jan. This has been a PR disaster from the company, and whoever was responsible for marketing should really be beaten repeatedly with very heavy pillows.
In a perfect world, let's hope that the timing of the election gives rise to DERM simply 'walking away' from the court action and lodging some boring defence of shifting the blame to the independent bore sample results taken from someone outside of DERM (which they will to divert responsibility away from themselves ie. plausible deniability. Its what I'd do).
Either way as I wrap this rant up, I look out my office window at the skyline of Surfers Paradise and with a somewhat heavy heart can't impress enough that whoever the Premier is in the months to come, they have a great deal of fixing to do. This state is in ruins and unless there is drastic action taken to rectify the mounting debts, costs of living and social decay, QLD is going to face a very bleak upcoming 3 decades.
