Its an investment like any other.

I waited until recently to install my solar system. I have four kids and two adults in my house. Our power bills used to be $600 (we have a pool and aircon) and our hot water is also electric.

My last bill, this summer, was $270 :) (3 monthly).

I purchased a 2kwt system for just over $4,000k. It's around a 4 year payback. Much better than the 10plus year paybacks original investors in solar were chasing.
