I've seen the 1 share purchase before and mass trades but it's not always a good sign or even a sign of anything. Sometimes there's days with huge volumes and months of inactivity in some securities I've watched. The only sure thing I have noticed is when buyers buy unconditionally at a price but do not commit to a price above that until absolutely necessary.
