I have to say the discussions in this forum have been very detailed and informative in particular to the indepth analysis of FML/CRE costs.
I got into FML for two reasons.
(1) Stock specific reasons and
(2) General macro viewpoint on POG continuing it's upwards move for years to come.
I also hold other Gold stocks so need to diverisify.
I was around in the 1980's to remember when gold moved from the gold standard of $35 (around 1974) to a peak of $800 in 1980 due to the oil shocks and inflationary impacts etc.
My gut feel is 1980 was a walk in the park when compared to now with the volumes of money printing going on around the world and the levels of debt.
In recent times I think gold bottomed out at around $250 a few years ago and has since moved about 6 fold to $1750.
I consider the $250 equivalent to the $35 reached in 1974 so if you apply the same levels of magnitude the run from $35 to $800 was a factor of just ove 20 times. This implies a run from $250 to $5000 possible. I realise this is very simplistic but illustrates the point what gold is capable of doing. So those who believe in levels of $4,500 plus may look pie in the sky type stuff however I very much believe it is a real possibility. The peak of $800 in 1980 occured when inflation was imminent or was just about to become rampent. I think Ronald Reagan just became president back then. The question for today is when will inflation become a problem. Eventually all this money printing will turn into inflation however it is the timing which is the question. If the gold market gets a sniff that inflation is around the corner I expect it will really move prior to inflation showing it's ugly head as markets tend to anticipate events before they occur. My guess is it will take a number of years for gold to get to $4500 plus ie perhaps 3-5 years.
In regards to FML, irregardless of its current costs of production, I am sure they will get this down to a medium cost producer ie 700 - 1000 per ounce. I agree that this will be a 10 cent plus stock which will put the market cap at $430mill plus. Why do I say this ? because I have looked at other similar gold stocks which are also ramping up to 200oz per year. Thier market caps are at $370mill to $600mill. Not completely comparing apples to apples here but close enough to realise that FML's current market cap around $235mill is too cheap.
