You don't need a chart, if it has been trading pretty low and then starts heading north rapidly without news or on the rumour of the news then the pump is happening. There will be a million posts on the forum and plenty of ramping and backslapping.

As soon as it stalls and the posts suddenly drop it's a good idea to get out. 9/10 times it will drop within minutes of it stalling.

Happened twice with GCN last year
Happened last week with NMR
-Each time: 'Don't sell out now you don't want to get caught out when the earth shattering news comes'

If you're worried about being caught out with after hours news -> Even LYC only went up 22% on that big news yesterday and everyone bought in trying to 'catch-up' buying into people selling for profit - now its rushing to fill the gap.

Sit back sometimes.. let the dust settle, think and don't get caught up in the hype. I particularly enjoy the posts blaming all this on day traders. Saying that traders bought in at 5c and sold down to 4.5c as was claimed earlier in here is just a lie. It was most likely buying on Monday/Tuesday and selling it down today. It's creating a nice SIN wave. If you call yourself a trader and sold at 4.5c after buying at 5c then go find a new profession.

On the same note about T+3s trading with money that 'isn't theirs'. There's a misnomer to clear up: Commsec 'T+3' which most people seem to use is not 'true' T+3. You still need to have the money to settle the trade if you don't exit within the first day and half or so. If you bought $10,000 of GCN 3 days ago and only sold today, Commsec would still expect that money until their system catches up sometime next week. Hitting you with debit fees until it figures out you sold. Their whole system is geared for holding your money in their coffers as long as possible.
