I seem to remember somethoing caled SynRock. I wonder what happened to it?
Google informs me that France and UK use 'vitrification', which is no doubt the 'glass' you speak of HH.
Synroc was designed to deal with the residue after reprocessing of nuclear waste - unfortunately the main reprocessors in France and the UK went for vitrification instead and SYnroc has been looking for a use ever since. It will be used for the intermediate waste that's being returned from France and Scotland to AUstralia.
