Ive got to say I don't really put much credence to these "held down" theories. Although I have witnessed plenty of price manipulation! There is no obvious evidence of loading the sell stack; 60 sellers at 10.5, then 37, 25, 38. I know this could be the same capper but more likely lots of individuals. Also no bot action that would indicate a bigger entity playing with the price.

So I'm looking for another explanation. No way of really knowing which explanation is correct, especially because its likely to be a combination of things, but I think one possibility is this:

There were HUGE volumes of shares purchased in the September 2010 frenzy. A lot of these holders have been underwater ever since. Volumes (and prices) since have never been enough to release these people from their losses. So possibly the wall that's been in front of AVB and that sits there still is large numbers of those individuals queued up to get out at what they feel is an acceptable loss. They may have been hoping the JORC would help them minimise it, but once it failed to move the price today they unloaded another 20 million with the last 2.5 mill literally dumped is what looked to be desperation/frustration.

    Thoughts welcome ....
