I have to admit that I am a scientist (I have a doctorate like your Dad!!) and therefore have a strong bias in favour of the scientific method. The basis of this is that a proposition is advanced and evidence for and against is presented. If the consensus of evidence is strongly in favour of the proposition, then we can consider it a "Theory". Thus we have the Theory of Evolution and the "Theory of Anthropogenic Global Warming".

Once the evidence becomes absolutely convincing, the theory becomes a "Law". eg the Law of Gravity or the Laws of Thermodynamics.

It is a tribute to the scientific establishment that we still refer to the "Theory of Evolution" rather than the "Law of Evolution". No one in their right mind would seriously doubt that Evolution is a fact. So too with AGW. Scientists are absolute skeptics. They will not seriously entertain a conjecture until the evidence supporting it is absolute.

A "thesis"is an idea or proposition to be supported or upheld in argument. Surely that is exactly your position with respect to AGW.

To suggest that the worldwide scientific community is open to corruption is preposterous. There have been isolated cases of fraudulent behaviour but the vast majority of scientists engaged in global warming research have impeccable credentials. I find it frustrating that many people regard the scientific method as some kind kind of religion. Faith based evidence rather that factually based evidence.

I have studied global warming since the 1970's when the "crazy idea" was first mooted. I am an arch skeptic and I would not accept the proposition unless the evidence in favour of it was overwhelming. This is now the case. To doubt that AGW is real demonstrates ignorance - or to use your analogy "have a flat earth mentality". Out of interest there are still those who still believe that the earth is flat!!. I guess in a few years time we will speak with similar incredulity about those who still profess that AGW is bullshit.

As this is a uranium thread, I think we should all be delighted (perversely) that AGW is a real and serious phenomena. It will not be long before the burning of fossil fuels is outlawed and the only current substitute is nuclear. Renewables wont do the job in the foreseeable future
