A lot of them were dealing with guilt at having destroyed Vietnamese villages and wrecking their way of life, all for uncle sam. Many had suicided because they could deal with all the horrors. It was very moving with one Digger putting his arm round his old foe as the Vietnamese said "It's all in the past, we look forward".
