Australian company, Pixe, has developed technology that could enable cheap, easy video-conferencing between mobile telephones. The pre-compression filter technology allows a file to be reduced by up to nine times before it is compressed in the standard way. It is thought that Pixe would make possible the delivery of broadcast-quality video in real time over standard digital subscriber lines. Pixe parent, Blaze International, says it is in negotiations with eight large US companies, and patents to protect the intellectual property have been filed.
