MCK 14/02/2012 10:43 GENERAL REL: 1043 HRS Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand Limited GENERAL: MCK: Update on Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand advises that a fire occurred at its Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin late yesterday evening. All guests and staff at the hotel at the time were evacuated and accounted for. One guest was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The extent of the damage to the Hotel is yet to be determined. "The safety of our guests and staff is our highest priority and we have relocated our guests to other hotels in Dunedin for the time being", said Matt Taplin, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels NZ's Vice President of Operations. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and hotel management is working with the Fire Service to isolate the cause. "We expect that we will be able to resume normal operations soon and we apologise for the inconvenience caused to our guests as a result of the disruption", said Mr. Taplin. Guests with reservations at the hotel for Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 February are asked to contact Millennium & Copthorne's Central Reservations on 0800 808 228 for further information.
