The existence of Jesus as a historical figure is without doubt. There is non-christian evidence that confirms a figure by the name of Jesus lived in the the first century.
The question that you need to work out for yourself is whether he was either a headcase, a conman or the Son of God.
Throughout history, there have been plenty of records about kings, queens, military commanders etc all highly noble people.
On the other hand here we here we have a lowly carpenter that a billion people today call Lord and God, maybe what he has to say isn't crap after all.
