your not investing in goodwill your investing to recieve a cashflow from operating assets (forecast the return on coles). goodwill is a balance between original costs and aqcuisitional cost, it doesn't change the quality of the operational assets.
do your calc - goodwill it should be alot higher for wes. Which will show true performance of assets.
Although wow is a better performer i forecast it's roc to drop this year to about 19% . key is to watch roc and roa(operating assets) relative to wacc, with wow wacc being around 9%. 9% being the line in the sand :)
