I know the focus for MOD is on the copper in Botswana and not wanting to mitigate that but did anyone see the OZ Minerals sale of their gold project in Cambodia to Renaissance (RNS)?
Some striking similarities to MOD’s Sams Creek deal.
· The gold project being acquired by RNS is 12.6Mt @1.8g/t for 729,000oz (indicated and inferred) v Sams Creek which is 13.5Mt @ 1.78g/t for 770,000oz (inferred).
· Both are Intrusive Related Gold Deposits (IRGDs).
· Both projects are open along strike and at depth.
· Both have untested targets (in the case of Sams Creek, only 10% of the known 6km strike length has been tested).
The big difference is that RNS is paying OZ a total of $20.2m in cash and shares up front, with another $22.5m payable in future payments. This is a total of $42.7m.
In comparison, the total consideration payable to OceanaGold for 80% of Sams Creek is 17m MOD shares worth circa $3.5m.
Which makes for an interesting comparison!
