Not sure really but when options are exercised it usually restarts the CGT clock again - ie, you need to hold the shares for an additional 12 months to get the CGT discount irrespective of how long you held the options.
Typically there is always some price pressure on a stock when options are approaching exercise - some punters will be selling fpo's and options so that they can pay up on the balance.
