Thanks for that, diego. Certainly a great call at the time from Tim.

I would step in though to correct the furphy that the article perpetrates: that the government has pumped in a lot of money to hot rock geothermal in Australia. This pops up all the time in the right wing media. The federal government has only spent in the region of 30-40 million dollars to try to develop geothermal over the last 10 years. They may have 'awarded,' 'allocated' or 'promised' more (in the region of 200m) but they had 'paid' 30m in total up to late last year as made very clear by the AGEA chairwoman and all companies involved. The 200m was all tied to the companies scoring 2:1 private funding, an impossibility mid-GFC, so 30-40m is actually a pathetic contribution over ten years by the feds for a potential major future baseload power solution that is sustainable and emission free.

Not having a go at you diego, just sick of the bulls*#t coming from the right wing in the press, probably initiated by a fossil-fuel funded right wing thinktank talking point and endlessly repeated by biased or lazy journos. Disgusting.
