We haven't heard much about the US but from the Report: "Other markets During the half year the Company continued to operate BlueGen units in other global markets with some of the world’s largest gas and energy companies, including Tokyo Gas and Osaka Gas in Japan, SoCal Gas in California, Edison S.p.A. in Italy and Cosvegas in Switzerland." Approval in the US is expected in June, SoCalGas has a self generation incentive program: About The Self Generation Incentive Program
The Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) provides financial incentives for the installation of new, qualifying self-generation equipment installed to meet all or a portion of the electric energy needs of a facility. Retail gas and electric customers served by an investor owned utility in California may be eligible for an incentive.
Program was suspended from January 2011 to November 15, 2011. Runs through December 31, 2015 Eligibility for participation in SGIP is based on green house gas emission reductions. System must utilize waste heat recovery meeting Public Utility Code 218.5. Eligible technologies are grouped in to three incentive levels shown below.
Technology Type Incentive ($/W) Renewable and Waste Energy Capture Wind Turbine $1.25 Waste Heat to Power Technologies $1.25 Pressure Reduction Turbine $1.25 Conventional CHP Internal Combustion Engine CHP $0.50 Microturbine CHP $0.50 Gas Turbine CHP $0.50 Emerging technologies Advanced Energy Storage[1] $2.00 Biogas[2] $2.00 Fuel Cell CHP or Electric Only $2.25 Incentive Tiers 0 1 MW 100% 1 -2 MW 50% (Bluegen) 2 3 MW 25%
[1] Stand-alone or paired with solar PV or any otherwise eligible SGIP technology.
[2] Biogas incentive is an adder that may be used in conjunction with fuel cells or any conventional CHP technologies. http://www.socalgas.com/innovation/self-generation/
So major markets but not Australia have a sensible incentive for micro-CHP.
