1/ ( I like the last line the best:total efficiency increases to up to 85%.)

"A FIVE-FOLD increase in sales of its high efficiency and low emission power device has achieved a three-fold boost to interim sales of £2.3m for Australian-based Ceramic Fuel Cells.

The company, which has a production site in Bromborough making zirconia powder for use in its highly-efficient fuel cell, announced figures for the six months to December 31 today.

It revealed sales of 67 units, which were five times better than the same period in 2010. Cumulative orders doubled from July to December 2011 to a total of 614, with orders for 100 or more received from distributors in Germany, the Netherlands and from E.ON UK.

The company said it is continuing to scale up for further growth and a placement and rights issue during the year raised £11.8m.

Managing director Brendan Dow said recent developments in European markets had improved the attractiveness of the company’s products.

“The German Parliament has proposed an increased feed-in-tariff for products like ours. Earlier this month we stated that we welcomed the UK Government’s announcement of an increase in the feed-in-tariff for micro power and heating products, which includes our BlueGen product.

“There is no doubt that governments the world over are seeing the benefits of distributed generation of electricity, particularly technologies like ours which significantly reduce carbon emissions.

Ceramic Fuel Cells says its BlueGen unit delivers an electrical efficiency of up to 60%, the highest in the world, and when the heat from BlueGen is used to produce hot water, total efficiency increases to up to 85%."

2/ Pike Report assessing potential markets extract:

According to a new report from Pike Research, the total number of installed residential combined heat and power systems, in both single family homes and multi-unit dwellings, will reach 13.5 million by 2022.

These installations will drive an annual market value of $41bn in 2022, the cleantech market intelligence firm forecasts.

"Residential CHP technology has the potential to reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiency in the home while, potentially, reducing consumer energy bills," says research director Kerry-Ann Adamson. "The technologies being developed are increasingly market-ready, and we are reaching a potential tipping point where annual adoption could start to rise sharply."

According to the Pike Pulse Country Grid, which assesses countries on their manufacture and adoption of residential CHP systems, the top three countries in the world are currently Germany, Japan and South Korea.

Pike Research's report, "Residential Combined Heat and Power", analyzes the global market potential for resCHP systems for single-family and multi-family homes using technologies including internal combustion engines, fuel cells, Stirling engines, and Organic Rankine Cycle.

The study includes in-depth assessments of leading countries for the manufacture and adoption of resCHP systems, the technologies utilized in such systems, and the key industry players engaged in this market.
