Pan African Resources Reports Higher Profits And Plans For Significant Increases In Gold And Platinum Production

Jan Nelson, chief executive officer of Pan African Resources, is setting his sights on fresh platinum opportunities in South Africa as he celebrates a doubling of first-half profits to £22.8 million pre-tax, on revenues from gold and platinum production that increased by 33.7 per cent compared to the comparable period a year ago, to £51.2 million.

An ex-luminary of the Gold Fields and Harmony gold mining groups, Jan argues South Africa’s platinum industry today is an “absolute disaster”, poorly organised and ripe for a transformation equivalent to that which began in the gold sector 20 years ago.
