Enough of the Gold Coast bashing. Hardly Florida, retirement towns (gods waiting rooms) are Port McQuarie, Bundaberg and Sunshine Coast or Tweed. Everyone down South NSW is getting flooded away this week, maybe they will head North chasing some sunshine.
Agree the apartment prices have gone down a heap. Parents bought new apartment in Southport 2003 for 220k, apartments in the building were going for 320k around 2008. Now i'd say lucky to get $250-260.
Bought my place 3br House over 2 years ago 385k by the time all loan fees / purchase costs included. I'd say you could buy similar today for 350k. I did get 8k FHOG though.
Why would you not move to QLD? Houses are cheap as and you can go surfing before work without a wetsuit for most of the year.
