    Gday onyx

You are not the only person to ever have this dilemma. I would say most people have come up against this problem at some time in their investing life.

For what its worth IMO unless you have other considerations like tax for example I would not merge your position and average down.

I had this idea in my head like you once that I was not going to sell at a loss on a particular company and then I found another company I thought was a bargain at the time and so had the conundrum of what to do.

In the cold light of day I realised whether I liked it or acknowledged it, the fact was I had made a loss and the question was which was the best way forward.

Needless to say it was my best lesson and my decision to sell at a loss and buy the bargain company turned out very well.

I say all this as I view your situation much the same. You have already made a loss on NWE. Its only worth ? now. Not what you bought it for. You have two questions in my book and they are separate questions.

Are you happy to hold onto your "loss"? Do you think it is going to rise in price from here?
And do you think another investment in NWE at ? will be rewarding?

Long winded sorry but good luck!
