    to make a major acquisition in US. In today's afr it said that Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, India's biggest energy explorer is about to announce an agreement to buy it's first shale gas asset in the US and plans to spend at least $1 billion on purchases - "real soon now".

    should be interesting to see if this sets another small fire under the shale gas plays in the US much as BHP did.
