A vertical oil well creating a zone of low pressure in the oil bearing strata should have a decline curve as the length of the path of migration of the oil to the well increases over time. Fraccing creates a larger zone of low pressure and improves flows/total oil recovery/well spacing in some combination.
With the debate over well decline in a standard oil field scenario as with MAD the decline situation with tight strata/shale fields with 5000m horizontal sections and multiple fraccs must be complex. With such a large exposure to the strata the initial flows seem OK but over time you would think the low permeability strata would become an issue.
