The only economy they are driving is their own. The mining sector is being subsidized by the rest of the economy through the high dollar, high interest rates and the closure of businesses both manufacturing and retailing. Meanwhile their profit levels are becoming obscene.
And talk about "driving". How many Australians are going to benefit from the activities of RIO and BHP et al when their trucks and other equipment are driverless and (take notice you know who lol)over 80% of the profits are going to overseas shareholders. Wake up Australia, wake up.
