BOA would be driven the price lower to attract a suitor to takeover PLA. This is the only way BOA can untangle themselves out PLA quickly.
Simply it has been a bad investment for them and they will manipulate (shorting etc) to extract a lesser capital loss as possible, but to exit they need volume.
Volume generated by a suitor coming along and plonking an offer will do the job quickly and efficiently.
