Get ahead of himself is an understatement...his bahaviour is fancilful.
He has rarely delivered set targets or strategies and with that history is embarking on this deal. You can hardly back the guy at best and if you were honest he is just gone off on another hair brain idea to blow shareholder value.
The board should be pulling him into line. Concentrate on what is in front of you right now and meet those goals.
