Defplayer - who would you suggest that Mincor takeover, given your thoughts that many are distressed and available?
Seems to me that Mincor is a well run, but marginally profitable company (at least when Nickel is sub $9).
I don't see management as lazy, and think that they have taken action on a number of fronts.
* They have made significant changes to become and owner operator of their nickel mines and reduced the extraction cost of their nickel reserves.
* They continue to explore the nickel tenements that they hold, and have shown a good ability to rapidly move discoveries to productive resources.
* They have invested in PNG with other commodities, that hold good promise (although start up costs will be significant).
* They have shown confidence in their stock through investing in it, both as directors buying, and through the share buy back.
* They built up a large dollar asset and they have shown a strong minded ability to resist making quick decisions to use that asset just to change shareholder perceptions.
* They expense exploration, so there is no funny asset base.
All in all, I think they are doing a good job - and I hope to see some exploration success come from their efforts - as I know they can move from discovery to production very quickly (think Carnilya Hill).
I might yet buy some more at current prices.
