I have noticed some parallels between dating and buying shares.

I remember wanting to date buy shares. I loved watching reading the business section and seeing the big boys Kerry, then James Packer date. It looked fun and easy ie – sell channel 9 at a monstrous price – buy it back at a dirt cheap price - make many, MANY, easy millions in the process.

So I decided to date buy some shares, even though, it scared me a little – what if I got hurt ripped off by someone like a Packer? I felt vulnerable I didn’t want to be a patsy. Plus I was still a virgin my money hadn’t left the bank.

Though I wasn’t fussy (sorry Mum), I had at least one criteria – my first date had to be a popular girl an oz miner - ‘cause ‘everyone’ wanted them. I also decided to play it safe – or what I called playing it safe – I’d date someone I’d often seen on a dating site was in the paper all the time. It made me feel I already knew her – and what I knew was - she was attractive (her photo showed this) and a good girl (according to the profile she’d written), the media said lots of good things about this company (especially the outlets that cut and pasted this miner’s own media releases into their articles), and its SP was always reported as running HOT.

So I acted and got my first date bought shares with this girl. Her name was Jennifer Fortescue Metals, but I called her Jen FMG.

The experience was a disaster. When I’d seen Jen’s photo on Facebook she looked hot that day FMG’s sp had a big jump but as soon as she got in the car I realised differently FMG’s sp started to dip. Up close, I saw she was wearing way to much make-up FMG’s spin doctor’s had been working overtime. When we chatted, I quickly realised Jen had little depth FMG had yet to mine a thing.

I turned the car around and dropped Jen off sold my FMG shares as soon as I could. I look back on that first date and wonder if I had stuck with Jen FMG - would things would have been different today? …yeah, FOR SURE - my FMG’s shares would have been worth A FORTUNE! Ouch!

But the experience did teach me to look do research for substance, so I now have a girlfriend called Carol own OBJ.

To get to the place I’m at now, I trawled a lot of dating sites investment sites before I found one that interested me – the site was: Russian Bad Girls Looking For Naughty Sugar Daddies… (just kidding), it was: Nice Girls Finish First the site was: Hotcopper.

I then researched, and researched, and researched until I found Carol OBJ.

On the face of it Carol OBJ is not a first choice for a lot of people. There seem more attractive options. But Carol OBJ is attractive upclose with very little make-up spin doctoring - plus has depth (check out today’s excellent post: OBJ - QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS by abdm for an in-depth analysis of OBJ).

It's not obvious at first, but the depth in Carol OBJ is there for those willing to look.

My one year adversary with Carol OBJ is coming up and I haven’t been disappointed as I look to a long term future together.
