If Newcrest was to eye out anything as a takeover target inside Australia. My best bet would be RRL. But competing Newmont has a 18% stake, that could prove an obstacle.

Given that Cadia Hill is running out of gold and production goes up to 2013. If Newcrest was to pursue a NSW strategy to mobilise existing expertise easily, I think that the McPhillamys project would be best fit for Newcrest, given previous articles suggesting that Newmont has a received informal interest in its 51% stake in McPhillamys.
