I was reading back over the February 23, 2012 Patent announcement on the Neuroprotective Phylomer Peptide.
It says Phylogica have a patent issued for a neuroprotective, intracellular phylomer and that they did a deal with J&J last year for intracellular phylomers but it doesn't say the new phylomer is part of the J&J deal. Or is it? Craftily worded I would say.
I think they mentioned J&J to remind people that they've done a deal with J&J. The neuroprotective phylomer could well be of interest to J&J but it's years away from the
clinic and any potential uses of it are very speculative at this point. However, given the wide range of actions associated with AP-1, I'm sure J&J is screening it and other Phylogica proteins in a wide range of in vitro assay systems.
J&J seem to be moving into this field big time by the looks of it. They're driving the One Mind for Research program and I don't think they're doing that out of the goodness of their hearts.
