LANGSA, Indonesia Today – Nasruddin Abubakar, vice regent of East Aceh stated that the local administration will file a lawsuit against Energy and Mineral Resources minister, Jero Wacik over his decision to allow Triangle Pase Inc to manage Pase oil and gas block in East Aceh, Aceh.

Nasruddin explained that energy minister's decision No 13.32 dated February 10, 2012, which is directed to the Upstream Oil & Gas Regulatory Body (BPMigas), violates the law. Nasruddin was surprised with the letter, which according to him, contains contradictions.

“After ordering not to extend (the contract), in another paragraph, BPMigas was ordered for temporarily appointing Triangle Pase Inc to manage the block. That's why we plan to file the lawsuit,” Nasruddin said.

Triangle’s contract in Pase block has been expired since February 23, 2012. The company actually intends to renew the contract for 20 years ahead. Triangle also claimed Upstream Oil & Gas Regulatory Body (BPMigas) has reaffirmed its support and state-owned oil & gas company PT Pertamina has confirmed it is not interested in acquiring the PSC. But the government later via energy minister has only extended the block's contract for six months so far due there’s no agreement between the central government and the local administration.

Triangle Pase Inc, based on extension permission from the central government, then continue to manage Pase block at Sejuk Blang Senong village, Pante Bidari sub-district, East Aceh.
