Hi angor532.
What a few of us are saying is that, yes labour is cheap. The problem is that until the Governments give the go ahead they can not start doing any real work on infrastructure apart from prep work.
If the Governments are allowing prep work to go ahead, they must feel that it will not be too far off to start full on infrastructure work.
These Governments are very new to infrastructure of the size and complexity of these projects.
It is not only Ports,Rail at Lolabe and Kribi, but also domestic Rail,Douala Port work,Gas Plants around the area of the Ports,Hydro power schemes,Telecommunications,National Highways, domestic Highways, linking Rail and Road to other countries in the Region.
As I have said before, they are most probably having to work in with Gabon,The Congo Republic,Central African Republic and maybe the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
We are all aware that this could be the start of another area like the Pilbara. The difference being that this involves maybe 5 or 6 countries, not just 1 State in Australia.
Imagine having premiers from West Australia,South Australia,The Northern Territory,Victoria,NSW and Queensland all wanting a share of a kitty from Federal Government for a National road or rail system.
The States with more density of people per State would be after more funding than the likes of West Australia.
Water coming down from Queensland to Victoria,South Australia and New South Wales could be told by Queensland that it is their water to start with so the other States have to pay them to collect and use their water.
Just imagine how long they would be arguing over these things.
Regards
Westcott.
