re: where is the do-gooders brick 50 Janet Albrechtsen of The Australian was specifically asked the following questions as a result of a variety of articles in particular "Janet Albrechtsen's View" 9/9/2002
Jim Ball of 2GB, Andrew Bolt of the Herald Sun, Jeremy Cordeaux of 5DN, Miranda Devine of the Sydney Morning Herald, Alan Jones of 2UE, Piers Akerman of the Daily Telegraph and Paul Sheehan of the Sydney Morning Herald were also asked these questions.
"Media Watch is examining reporting and commentary concerning Muslims in Australia.
We have been reviewing your work in the course of our research, and we were hoping you could answer a few questions to help us clarify your opinions on these matters:
1. Do you think that the religion of the men who perpetrated the gang rapes in South Western Sydney was relevant to their crimes? If so, how?
2. Do you see any connections between the attacks of September 11, the flow of boat people to Australia and the gang rapes in South Western Sydney? If so, what are those connections?
3. Do you believe Muslims are more likely to commit crimes than Christians? If so, why? If not, can you direct us to places in your work where you’ve made it clear that Muslims are no more likely to commit crimes than Christians?
Not one of these commentators could provide any evidence whatsoever to support their views. Their insinuations and allegations remain unsubstantiated by fact. The program proving that Janet Albrechsten had altered and/or invented evidence to support her views went to air unchallenged.
Albrechsten relies heavily on other media commentators, including in the US Steven Emerson and Daniel Pipes. Emerson was the "journalist" who fueled anti-Islamic hysteria by blaming Muslims for the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. He also said Muslims were responsible for the downing of TWA Flight 800 in 1996 (all since disproved).
Pipes is a prolific anti-muslim pro-Israel broadcaster in the US. A former director of Harvard’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies (and one of Pipes’ instructors) had this to say: "...to speak for myself, I have been appalled frequently by his (Pipes) polemical stance on almost everything having to do with Islam, Muslims, or the Palestinian/Israeli issue... "...The irony in (an article written by Pipes) is of course that Dr. Pipes and other radically and blindly pro-Zionist American Jews are much farther along the chauvinist and ultimately anti-American spectrum than are even radical American Muslims. "Yet Dr. Pipes, despite his own apparently strong, even blind, support for the Israeli state and its policies—even those policies that are attacked by thoughtful Israelis themselves as racist and oppressive— sees no incongruity in his condemnation of many Muslim Americans as a threat to the American state and democracy..." Australia is certainly experiencing a flood - not of boat people but of lies, falsehoods and deceptions designed to foster fear and hatred in the community.
