Another point about the chances of the Deepwater Expedition DWE being rebooked by BHP
The original contract with BHP had a contract end date of Jan 2014. That can be seen in following link to Transoceans Nov 2011 rig status report.
http://services.corporate-ir.net/SEC/Document.Service?id=P3VybD1odHRwOi8vaXIuaW50Lndlc3RsYXdidXNpbmVzcy5jb20vZG9jdW1lbnQvdjEvMDAwMTE5MzEyNS0xMS0zMTM1MjcvZG9jL1RyYW5zb2NlYW5MdGQucGRmJnR5cGU9MiZmbj1UcmFuc29jZWFuTHRkLnBkZg==
We now know that the DWE rig is booked out to a new undisclosed client from Dec 2012 for 2 years as per the link to the following article
http://www.upstreamonline.com/live/article1241904.ece
That means that BHP need another rig for the wells it had planned up to Jan 2014. Seems likely to me they will just book another rig and resume the program in 2013.
