Id card a great idea. Except for criminals and bad guys..LOL
Lets look at the positives. 1. Easier to catch/track the badies. A deterent, probably not for someone who is going to commit suicide and blow themselves and others up, but good to help track movements and associates so they don't follow suit. Good for tracking fraudsters and thieves.
I know this because it is easier to search one database IE national ID card rather than by contacting SEQEB, council re rates, Tansport Dept, Main Roads, library, Video card, bank/credit cards, mobile phone and phone numbers, medicare, welfare, dole etc., warrants, rental authorities, unencumberered vehicle databasis,criminal history etc. etc.
YOUR information is ALREADY OUT THERE AND BEING ACCESSED daily able to be accessed by cleaners in some instances. Now why not just tidy things up a little have 1 national ID card based on tax number or medicare number, do away with all the other crap. LIMIT WHO HAS ACCESS TO THE INFORMATION, AS PER USUAL THERE WILL BE BUGS BUT START A SYSTEM, implement controls, tighten accountability and it gets easier not worse.
I'M ALL FOR SECURITY CAMERAS AS WELL.. another topic and arguement but as far as I am concerned the only ones who have something to fear or hide are the ones who have something to fear or hide. FEAR NOT ANOTHER CARD, do away with the many and lets just have 1.
WHAT FREEDOM IS ERODED THE FREEDOM TO DO AWAY WITH 20 CARDS AND ONLY NEED ONE... MAYBE?
