Sydney junior oil and gas group, Petsec Energy, has announced a significant increase in earnings for the 2005 first half. The company also expects to triple its gas reserves in the Gulf of Mexico to about 100 billion cubic feet of gas as a result of its ongoing exploration program. Pre-tax earnings before expenses for the six months to 30 June reached $A27.6 million, 215 per cent higher than for the first six months of 2004. Net oil and gas revenue rose by 167 per cent. Petsec stock closed 8.4 per cent higher at $A1.12 on the news.
