Hi Linso,
I was in a Govt fund and was made redundant. This fund was free from fees but was returning little. I did have the option of staying in but decided to do a rolled over to a private fund where I thought there were more opportunities.
The fees were always layed out on an annual statement but were not easy to find or understand. I was relly pissed off when I found that I had been charged 1.1% for my $350,000 of contributions.
In relation to my Superfund fees here is a break down of charges:
Administration fee - 1.5%
Contribution fee - 1.1%
Management fees (depending on which fund) 0.44% up to 0.98%
Advisor/Service fees - 0.65%
My total fees were 4.23%
After a couple of years of complaining of the high fees they waivered the contribution fee of 1.1%
