Hi, it should really be on the NGF thread, so thanks Marykegeorge for posting it on the FML one...

My comment, so they're offering about 22c. Gee, why am I so excited!

The article just says that Zijin Mining is believed to be behind a likely $200 million plus tilt at Norton Gold Fields.
" a takeover of Norton would hand Zijin control of the groups paddington operations 35 km. north-west of Kalgoorlie-Boulder."

"it could also give Zijin an ASX- listed vehicle for further deals. Westbusiness understands a partial takeover that would enable Norton to remain listed would be the Chinese groups preferred option."
"although the price of Zijin's offer is not known , industry chatter last night suggested Norton's director's believed it was too cheap and were trying to flush out a rival bidder to secure a higher offer."

Sorry I don't know how to post the link but at top of the page it has the west. australians business news section. - go to thewest.com.au/business.

I also would hate to see a takeover as when started buying last May I was in for the long term and would hate to see things "pinched from our grasp" just as things appear to be turning very much for the better. i think the company has been flying below the radar for a while now, probably deliberately to some extent. i would like the company to still be well in charge of things as things improve and particularly as TI is explored further.

Wouldn't it be nice if the company could start buying back shares at these low levels but still keep the shares on behalf of the shareholders to build up a stake to make a takeover very difficult - I know this is not possible to do - but maybe some committed shareholders with big pockets could help??
Also thanks for all your helpful info. on this site - I don't post often but do pay close attention to posts on here.
    Cheers!
