two surprises

Am surprised at the pharmaceutical scheme win by the ALP. They did something right there in my opinion.

Next issue - second surprise - housing easing off rapidly and construction jobs being lost. So Julia does a deal with the USA to make it easy for US construction tradesmen to start work here immediately.

My son is a carpenter (one of them) and he lost his job a few months back so he thought it would be good to get a job in the mines - not so easy.

Construction slowing here in southern NSW as well. Gold Coast in a total melt down. The rot is spreading and the ALP decides to crush apprenticeship opportunities by importing tradesman to the industry.

Honestly it is one thing after another. I pointed out the problem with a high AUD recently in this thread. Blame the RBA - maybe but it is not all them by any means. They put their foot on the brake while the ALP puts their foot on the accelerator - and sometimes the brake too (e.g. carbon tax).

Economists are starting to scream that the AUD is crushing the economy here - only one ALP staffer (suspected) in here spoke up and his 'arguments' were spurious. His attacks on me did not work so he finally retreated to the spin - 'that the ALP is building a better Australia with excellent policy'. Sorry I have to go and vomit now that I typed those words.

Thanks for the one pleasant surprise ALP - cheaper drugs at the expense of multinational pharmaceutical companies is excellent. I wonder when or if the detail will emerge on how this has been stuffed up as well - maybe not I would be delighted to be surprised here. Could anybody blame me for being skeptical.

Black Swan indeed - in a full swan dive at the lower end of the bell curve if you ask me.

    Regards,
    CW
